Kyle Shanahan

Biography

Born December 14, 1979, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kyle Shanahan is the son of two-time Super Bowl-winning head coach Mike Shanahan. He attended Saratoga High School in California while his father served as offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, then Cherry Creek High School in Colorado when his father became head coach of the Denver Broncos. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Shanahan accepted a scholarship to Duke University but transferred to the University of Texas at Austin as a walk-on, playing wide receiver and catching fourteen passes for 127 yards during his career. Shanahan began coaching as a graduate assistant at UCLA in 2003 under Karl Dorrell before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as offensive quality control coach under Jon Gruden from 2004 to 2005.
