Deebo Samuel

Biography

Born January 15, 1996, in Inman, South Carolina, Tyshun Raequan "Deebo" Samuel Sr. earned his nickname from his father after the character in the 1995 film Friday. He attended Chapman High School where he finished with a school-record 53 career touchdowns, winning High School Sports Report Class AAA Offensive Player of the Year and playing in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. Samuel played college football at South Carolina from 2014 to 2018, battling injuries early in his career. After suffering a season-ending broken fibula in 2017, he returned for his senior season in 2018 and caught ten passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns against Clemson. He finished his collegiate career with 148 receptions for 2,076 yards and 16 touchdowns, earning first-team All-American and first-team All-SEC honors as a senior.
