Sweet Charity
Meet the staff at Charity Hospital as they treat a woman who had a serious foot infection that resulted in amputation, a 24-year-old woman who was stabbed defending her mother and a 9-year-old boy who was accidentally shot by his brother.
Fighting the Good Fight
Meet the Chief Surgery Resident, Dr. Donna Tesi. Many of the patients treated in this hospital are victims of gunshots and stabbings. Learn how Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Tesi are able to deal with the extreme violence of the city.
Long Way Home
Meet more of the staff as they treat a 15-year-old who was riding a three-wheeler through traffic and was struck by a truck, and a nine-year-old who was hit in the head by the metal A-Frame of a falling swing set. Both have life-threatening head injuries.
Fresh Faces
Meet two new staff members as they treat a 17-year-old man who was shot in front of his parents' home, and his 12 year old neighbor who was shot in the neck by a policeman during a search of an abandoned building down the street from the crime scene.
Rite of Passage
Get to know two new staff members as they treat a young boy with a life-threatening gunshot wound. After hours of surgery they manage to stabilize him. Later the boy takes a turn for the worse and the doctors rush him back to the OR for emergency surgery.
Rush to Judgement
A pregnant woman is rushed in after her car swerved off the road and flipped several times, sending her flying into a ditch where she lay for over two hours before being found. An unconscious man is rushed into the ER after a horrible car accident.
Medicine and Miracles
Residents anxiously await the results for the chief residency positions. An ambulance mechanic's hand is badly mangled and may need amputation. A man in a motorcycle accident slips into a coma and doctors must tell his father the prognosis isn't good.
Crossroads
A teenager is rushed in with six gunshot wounds. A man's face is smashed in a motor vehicle accident. A professor comes in screaming in pain from a broken leg and fractured skull. Some of the staff finally get a chance to relax at a co-worker's wedding.
Free and Easy
A young couple involved in a drag race smash their van into a tree at 75mph. New Orleans Drs. Hymel and Tesi are compassionate, but realize their city is addictive and good food, good wine and good times can lead to tragedy.
Someone to Lean On
One of numerous nightly gun shot victims is treated in Trauma. Then a dirt bike wreck leaves a young man with no feeling below the waist, and Dr. McSwain spends his day off volunteering as medical director for the Jazz Fest.
Close Calls
A man is treated for a gun shot wound to the temple. A 21-year old is in a three-wheeler accident, and the next day his best friend totals his truck. The residents discuss young men and risk-taking behavior, and then enjoy a lively night out.
Witching Hour
It's Friday the 13th. A man has been shot in the chest and taken to surgery. A 28-year-old arrives after being in a minor car accident, but suddenly starts vomiting and screaming. A three-year-old spilled hot soup on himself.
