De Groenlandse identiteit
Donald Trump wants to buy Greenland. The Danes and NATO are adamant. But what do the Greenlanders themselves think about this? Karine Claassen travels to the world's largest island in search of an answer. She discovers that the Greenlanders are very proud of their identity, but also struggle with it. Colonization by Denmark has left its mark. And in a strange way, Trump is now bringing them closer together again. Karine begins her journey through Greenland with Stan, a Flemish man living in the capital, Nuuk. His Greenlandic friend, Rico, immerses Karine (sometimes literally) in some Danish and Greenlandic customs. In Sisimiut, Karine sets out with Tupaarnaq, one of the few female hunters in Greenland, on a very special hunt.
De toekomst van Groenland
Greenland longs for independence, but first it must learn to stand on its own two feet. The threats from America are therefore a wake-up call. Greenland possesses enormous, largely untapped mineral wealth. The future may look bright, but at what price? Are the Greenlanders willing to abandon age-old traditions and customs that make them unique, but may also hinder their future? In Qaqortoq, Karine sets out with chef Salik. He invites her to a Greenlandic meal at his home, along with his American partner, Julia. He also takes Karine to Narsaq, a small town at the foot of a highly sought-after mineral-rich mountain. His niece, Avaaraq, is fighting against the opening of a mine there.
