Newly single Carlo begins dating a street performer with a violent ex-husband and an autistic 7-year-old daughter. As he observes the child's behavior, Carlo suspects an additional diagnosis: deafness.

The Perfect Couple
Carlo breaks up a lovers' quarrel at a restaurant and the couple turn up at his office looking for a 'cure' to their pattern of fighting in order to wind up in bed exploring shared sexual fantasies. The pair involve Carlo and his colleague Valentina in their dangerous games which go far beyond the consulting office.
Believing In the Afterlife
A former patient returns to see Carlo after his wife passes away, trying to understand what he saw the moment she died, which he believes to be her soul departing from her body.

A policeman and friend of Carlo's asks Carlo to help diagnose his 'partially demented' father.

End of Treatment
Carlo becomes bored with listening to his patients' seemingly monotonous problems and reassesses the meaning of his profession.
