Christabel (1988)
Synopsis
Christabel is a four-part 1988 BBC Two drama serial written by Dennis Potter, based on the memoir The Past is Myself by Christabel Bielenberg. Englishwoman Christabel Burton marries German lawyer Peter Bielenberg and resides in WWII-era Nazi Germany. When Peter is arrested for plotting against Hitler, Christabel is forced to confront her loyalties and consider using her connection to Winston Churchill to help him.

As wedding bells peal across the English countryside, Christabel makes a commitment to married life in a country soon to be at war with her own.
Episode 2
Trapped in Germany by the outbreak of war, Christabel finds herself at the mercy of Allied air raids and Peter's secret work is put at risk when she takes in two house guests.
Episode 3
As Peter's secret work becomes increasingly dangerous, Christabel takes the boys to the safety of the Black Forest but is forced to return to Berlin by some terrifying news.
Episode 4
Germany faces a humiliating defeat. Peter's life hangs in the balance as Christabel arrives at Ravensbruck Concentration Camp to plead for him.
